Police Integrity Commission has stated that the breath analysis tests carried out on Police officers controlling the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protests show that the officers were not drunk as accused by the MDP.

The commission carried out the breath analysis tests in relation to the accusations that the officers were drunk and intoxicated while controlling the opposition MDP’s protest near State Trading Organisation (STO).

The accused officers were tested with the breath analyser at the Police station by members of the Police Integrity Commission.

The commission urged the opposition MDP not to instigate violence and to work to maintain peace and security in the society. The commission also called the law enforcement officers and the protestors to act within the confines of law.
