President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister-elect of Pakistan, Raja Pervez Ashraf, following his appointment as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
President Waheed’s message to Raja Pervez Ashraf reads as follows: “On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives, and on my own behalf, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency, my sincere good wishes and congratulations on your appointment as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
This presents a new opportunity for Pakistan to usher in a vibrant democracy based on values of freedom, mutual respect and concord and I hope that under Your Excellency’s guidance Pakistan will continue to prosper.
I am confident that the relations of friendship and cooperation that exist between our two countries will deepen in the coming years. I also look forward to working closely with you on regional matters through SAARC for the benefit of our peoples.
