The “coup” was staged by the world ?
It seems that the people claiming that the change of power in Maldives on February 7th was through a coup, having blamed it on several people, has now reached a conclusion that the whole world is behind it.
Hence, if we do not give a thought to this, believing it can go as far as severing the ties Maldives has with India and organizations like UN, as being a citizen who cares about the country regarding the issue, let me say this.
Maldivian is referred to the citizens of Maldives. However there are some people who in several ways have attained citizenship of Maldives, without being born to Maldivian parents.
If any foreigner should be awarded the citizenship of Maldives for serving Maldives, there is no disagreeing that one the first person’s who deserves the honor is Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Mr. Dyaneshwar Mulay. Especially MDP cannot disagree.
It was known that when MDP came to power in 2008, the state did not have the funds to run the government. It was due to the remarkable efforts of Mr. Mulay that Maldives was provided with the essential financial aid during the situation and even through a slow process a way forward was perceived.
At the time it was as if there was no other person who could be compared to Mr.Mulay. The MDP government was even ready to put him on a throne like a king. These words of praise were being poured unto Mr.Mulay, by Former President Mohamed Nasheed until 7th of February, without discrimination.
However, all of a sudden we are informed that MDP’s closest associates of Nasheed have accused Mr. Mulay of being a traitor and also accusing Mr.Mulay of playing the greatest role as a traitor in overthrowing the MDP government.
Politicians have remarked regarding the issue saying that is it similar to being a beggar in front of a millionaire’s house. “If the millionaire hears the person begging loudly in front of their house, they will come out and give some more money. It is because the others at the household will treat them the usual way. However when the millionaire gives he will give more. It is a clever trap they set up, believing that once the Indian government hears of the statements made on behalf of Nasheed, the Indian forces will bring down the present government and hand over the power to Nasheed. They have no other intention behind it.”
It has been age’s since Indian High Commissioner’s have served in Maldives. Nonetheless, how many citizens have they met? How many of the social events have they participated in? What are the social service’s they have provided?
However, Mr.Mulay is seen differently. He is ahead of Maldivians in conducting social events and serving the Maldivians.
The health camps conducted in male’ and atolls and the rounds of blood donations, along with the classes to teach Indian language to Maldivians and vice versa. The activities conducted with the Maldivian artists, to promote them. The cultural center established in Maldives. Likewise, his considerable efforts to provide and speed up the process of getting the assistance requested from India by the government. His hard work to increase the number of scholarships offered to the Maldivian students.
True, India is doing so many things for us. To those who say’s this, I would like to say that India had existed before also and High Commissioners were there as well. Did Maldivians receive such services before. Then why didn’t we get it?
Hence, many believes that the other reason for these allegations and accusations against Mr.Mulay; who serves the Maldivian in such great extent, today, is to create hatred towards India among Maldivians. It is also said to influence the relation between Maldivians and its loyal friend. Many also note that such things will not be done a person or people who in any way love the nation and citizens of Maldives.
Nevertheless it may be considered that there may be no one that the members belonging to MDP Nasheed’s faction will not accuse of being a traitor, because anyone who does not belong to the faction is called a traitor.
When Mohamed Waheed Deen was appointed as the Vice President, they called him a traitor. And now we hear Former Defense Minister of Nasheed’s government, Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu is also being called a traitor. Even the UN Representative in Maldives Andrew Cox is also being pointed out as a traitor.
Therefore, the whole world has taken part in the events which occurred in Maldives on 7th February. Even Nasheed’s party MDP also played a role in the coup. The only person who did not take part in the coup is President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik which is confirmed by Mr. Nasheed while speaking in a MDP rally in GDH. Thinadhoo recently.
