No threats to tourists in Maldives- Gasim

Villa Group Chairman Gasim Ibrahim has said that there is no threat to tourists in Maldives and that the country is perfectly safe for foreigners to enjoy their holidays.
Explaining the current situation to the Chinese television media, Gasim said that the political turbulence in capital Male’ and some other populated islands will have no effect in the tourist resorts since Maldives is an archipelago of islands separated by sea. He assured that the country continues to be a safe haven for tourists.
“Maldives was and is still a safe haven for tourists” and the tourism sector, the tourist resorts have not been affected by the political tension and unrest.
The Chinese media delegation came to Maldives on 19th of this month to check if the political unrest that hit the shores of Maldives have affected the Chinese tourists since the majority of tourists who visit the country are from China.
They informed that they will be meeting with President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and the newly appointed Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adheeb.
Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb has said that his ministry has launched strategies to counter the local and international campaigns to damage the tourism industry of Maldives.
“I will stand up strongly against these negative campaigns. I will succeed. I will create confidence in the tourism industry and foreign investors towards Maldives,” Minister Adheeb said.
He said that there is absolutely no danger to tourists who visit the Country, as their destinations are far removed geographically from Male’ and from each other too.
However, he said that there has been a lot of negative campaigning in the Chinese and European media and he is already talking to these Medias to correct these opinions.
