Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, the leader of the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has said that it is not the judiciary that needs to reform and rectified but it is the government.

Speaking at DhiTV, Thasmeen said that the government has done many things outside the bounds of the constitution. He said that many of these issues have been established as truth by the courts of law.

Thasmeen said that the government is the only power from the three separated powers that has no strength.

“With all of this is taken to consideration, if the people want to reform a state power than it is the government that needs to be recovered.

Thasmeen noted that no institution or commission is infallible. And therefore even the Judiciary will naturally fall into mistakes. He said that the solution is not destroying the judiciary but by reforming the people.

DRP Leader noted that the actions of the President are similar to the actions of a tyrannical desport.

In view of the Civil Court’s summoning of Moosa Ali Jaleel to court, Thasmeen said that the President has no authority to decide on summoning of the court. He said that it is the judges who decide on whom to summon.
