DQP member files lawsuit against Police and seeks MRF 1.5m as a compensation

Opposition Dhivehi Qaumee Party (DQP) member Mohamed Fahmy has filed a lawsuit against Maldives Police Service and has asked for a compensation of MRF1.5 million.
DQP informed the media that their member Mohamed Fahmy was illegally arrested and taken to Dhoonidhoo detention center by the Police while he was peacefully demonstrating his constitutional right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. The party said that the case has been filed at the Civil Court yesterday.
DQP said that Mohamed Fahmy filed the case at is seeking compensation because his basic rights were violated by the Police.
Mohamed Fahmy filed the lawsuit against Police Corporal Ahmed Fazeel. He said that he seeks a compensation of RF1.5 million for arresting him and keeping him in police custody without any due right.
