DQP calls to audit President’s Office

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Opposition Dhivehi Qaumee Party (DQP) has called the Auditor General to audit President’s Office.

Secretary General of DQP Ameen said that all audits reports of the audits conducted on the government offices have so far proved that the allegations of corruption and questionable spending in opposition to the Finance Act were true.

Ameen said that the President stated that he will not heed the verdicts of the lower courts and the government does not implement the orders of the Anti-Corruption Committee to save his corrupt allies in the government.

“The people are in poverty and in a pitiful state. Corruption is rampant. There are allegations that the government is deceitful to the people and misusing the taxes that the people are paying to the government,” he said.

Ameen said that it is imperative that the audit reports of the expenses of the President’s trip to foreign countries and even to the islands are exposed to the public.

Meanwhile, the Auditor General recently publicized the 2010 audit reports of the Ministry of Health which found that over 14.9 million MRF worth of medical equipment had been bought in violation of budgetary regulations.
