Dhiyana reiterates the call to impeach President Nasheed

Former Secretary General of SAARC Dhiyana Saeed has reiterated her calls for the impeachment of President Mohamed Nasheed.
Speaking at the meeting of the 23 December Coalition held at Artificial Beach area on last Friday, Dhiyana said that it is legally questionable the Constitution empowers only the Peoples’ Majlis with the powers to impeach the President.
Dhiyana said that the President Nasheed is flouting the law and violating the rights of the people. The former Attorney General expressed grave concern about the threat posed by President Nasheed to the Judiciary and the media.
Dhiyana said that she has been receiving phone messages from supporters of President Nasheed calling her a coward for going home to seek treatment for the injuries she received when the riot Police forcefully arrested her. She said that her determination will never be wavered. She added that she is even ready to sacrifice her blood for the people.
Moreover, Dhiyana reiterated her calls to the President to stop violating the constitution and the laws of the country.
