President and First Lady Attend India’s Republic Day Function

President Mohamed Nasheed and Madam Laila Ali, attended the function to mark India’s 62nd Republic Day. The function was held last evening at Dharubaaruge.
Speaking at the function, the President said the Maldives would “continue to get aspirations and lessons from the Indian experience” in creating and implementing a democratic Constitution.
Stressing that the government’s biggest and most important project was consolidating democracy, the President thanked the Indian government and its people for the assistance and cooperation in this great endeavour.
The Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives also spoke at the function. He focused on the close ties that exist between the two countries and India’s commitment to continue the close relations.
