Abdul Latheef
The newly appointed Deputy Leader of the opposition Jumhooree Party (JP) Abdullah Jabir who joined JP recently has announced that a candidate of the party will run in the 2013 Presidential Election.
In a programme of VTV, Jabir said that in the ground breaking 2008 Presidential Elections the Jumhooree Party has proved that they are capable and competent political party. He expressed his high hopes that the party’s candidate will win the 2013 Presidential race and return the rights of the people violated by the current regime.
Jabir said that it is saddening that President Nasheed backstabbed all his allies including the Jumhooree Party when it was through the hard work and toil of the Jumhooree Party that he won the 2008 elections. He accused the President of shattering and crushing the democratic change that the people of Maldives have accepted.
He called the people to join Jumhooree Party to establish a government more attuned to the needs of the people.
Meanwhile, one of the first members of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Abbas Adhil Riza has signed up for the Jumhooree Party last evening. He said that he joined Jumhooree Party to work with the party to alleviate the sufferings of the people and change the current state of affairs.
