Former SAARC SG taken to Police

Former SAARC Secretary General Diyana Saeed was summoned to Police Headquarters and questioned last night.
She was questioned by the Police after she had attended the anti Government protest against the illegal arrest of Chief Judge of the Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed. Diyana who resigned the post of Secretary General of SAARC after criticising the arrest of the Judge said she joined the protest as a mark of her support to the people who have been deprived of their rights.
Meanwhile Diyana’s businessman politician husband Abdullah Jabir joined opposition Jumhoory Party of Billionaire politician Gasim Ibrahim in a ceremony joined by more new members joining the party. Jabir who was President of the Fund Raising Committee of ruling MDP resigned from the party saying the party is performing according to its promises and aspirations of the people, and that was why heft the party and joined Jumhoory Party.
Jumhoory Party Leader Gasim Ibrahim welcomed Jabir and said Jabir was one of the founding members who did much in the making of the party. Gasim said Jabir’s return to the party was an encouragement to the party and the struggle of the people for saving the new democratic system of the country. Jabir was reelected as the Deputy Leader of Jumhoory Party by its Council in a unanimous vote last night.
