Govt terminates Flyme operations and close down therapist spas of Villa group

The government has terminated all operations of Flyme and closed down therapist spas of five resorts owned by Villa Group.

According to reports, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation ordered Villa Air to terminate all operations of Flyme on the claims to make an audit of the company in relation to an investigation of an accident that occurred on 24th December.

The Ministry stated that the audit is conducted to ensure whether all safety measures are taken by Villa Air in their flights.

Minister of Tourism closed down the spas on the claims that prostitution was carried out in the spas of five tourist resorts operated by Villa Group.

Minister of Tourism, Dr. Mariyam Zulfa said that a team of investigators from Maldives Police Service will be sent to the spas to carry out an investigation. She said that the government will take all measures to ensure that the tourism industry remains safe from any illegal activity that might threaten the image of the industry.

“The spas were closed down in these resorts because the government has received reports of prostitution carried out in these spas,” Dr. Zulfa said.

Gasim Ibrahim, owner of Villa Company said that these decisions were taken by the government to suppress for speaking against the anti-Islamic activities of the government.
