Leader of the opposition Jumhooree Party and Maamigili MP, Gasim Ibrahim has said that he is not worried even if the government takes away all his wealth to suppress him for criticizing the government’s anti-Islamic policies.

Speaking at the ceremony to commemorate the Tsunami that hit the Maldives seven years back, Gasim said that he has lived a poverty stricken life during his childhood and all what he has earned was from the bounty of Allah for his sincere work.

“It is Allah who gives us from His bounty and it is He who takes away from us. So I trust in Allah alone. And even if the government takes away all my wealth I will still sleep content with what Allah has bestowed upon me,” he said.

“The tsunami that has hit us today is much more aggressive and dangerous than the tsunami that hit our island nation in the year 2004. It is an obligation upon each individual of this nation to work hard and take up their hands in supplication, asking Allah to relieve us from the oppression of the current government which is worse than a tsunami,” he said.

In view of the government’s decision to close down some spas of the resorts and to halt the flights of Flyme owned by Gasim, he said that the government took that action to increase the poverty that the people are experiencing today under the current regime.

He said that he would never waver away from working sincerely for the people even if the government takes away all his wealth.

  1. If Gasim is sincere and truthful in his speech, then may Allah purify his wealth and multiply it for him and answer his du’a. Aameen.
