Record number bills passed in last two terms of Majlis

People’s Majlis has revealed that a record number of bills have been passed in the last two terms of the Majlis.
In the last two terms of the Majlis 22 of the total 29 bills proposed were passed.
According to the statistics revealed by the Parliament Secretariat, in the three terms of the year 2005, only 6 bills were passed out of the 17 bills proposed. In 2006, 4 bills were passed from the 30 proposed in the three terms of the year. And in 2007, 6 bills were passed out of the 17 proposed.
According to the statistics of last 10 years, the most number of issues were presented to the parliament in 2008. While the parliament concluded 37 issues in 2008, it has finished 37 issues during the last two terms of this year.
“Considering the statistics of 2000-2010, the most number of bill were also presented to the 17th parliament,” parliament Secretary General Ahmed Mohamed said.
Ahmed Mohamed noted that the works of the Majlis have expedited with the new constitution in effect.
