Police refuse to give permission to Baibala tournament

Police has refused to give permission to hold the ‘Baibalaa’ tournament cautioning about the implications of this game, as competition or rivalry between gangs has lead to violence in the past.

Police noted that such tournaments instigate gang violence, conflict, and robbery.

On Tuesday, 150 people gathered at the President’s Residence, Muleeaage request permission to hold the ‘Baibalaa’ tournament during Eid. President Nasheed came out and said that he will try to give the permission to hold the tournament.

Press Secretary at the President’s Office Mohamed Zuhair said the president would find out the reasons for the police’s refusal.
