Police Integrity Commission has said that Police are not authorized to stop transmission of the private radio station DhiFM.
On January 28 police officers in plains clothes walked into the private radio station Dhi FM, ordering to stop the live transmission of an Opposition DRP protest.
Labour party lodged the case in Police Integrity Commission.
The commission said that no evidences have been provided despite the allegations of the Police that DhiFM was directly involved in inciting people to violence.
According to the report the two officers went to DhiFm under the command of Superintendent Ahmed Saudi who was ordered by deputy Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muneer.
Earlier, police said in a letter sent to the radio station that “ DHiTV and DhiFm have broadcast the live coverage in a supportive manner to oust the legitimate government, creating public outrage close to the president’s residence” warning them not to do so in future.
