Police arrest new drug cartel

Drug Enforcement Department (DED) of Maldives Police Service has arrested 4 illegal narcotics traffickers of a new drug cartel.
According to Police the new drug cartel was uncovered during a special operation conducted Sunday night. The Police allegedly seized 0.5Kilo grams of heroin possibly worth of Rf 500, 000.
In a press conference held in Iskandharu School, Head of DED and Head Superintendent of Police Mohamed Jinah, said that the new drug cartel was discovered while the suspected drug peddlers were in the process of importing and trading the illegal narcotics.
According to Police the 4 drug peddlers were detained at 21:30 hours on Sunday night.
Jinah said that the street value of the 0.5 kilograms of heroin reaches more than half a million Rufiyyah.
Jinah said that the alleged drug peddlers did not have police records.
Jinah refused to reveal the location of the scene of arrest, but noted that it was a rented room which has a past of similar incidents.
