Police appeals to hold Baibala responsibly

Despite the refusal of the Police to give permission to hold the ‘Baibalaa’ tournament, Male Municipalty has authorized the permit to hold the tournament.
Speaking to Miadhu, Police appealed the parties concerned to be responsible, and to not commit actions against the game spirit.
With the help of Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), Baibala tournament will be held at the vacant land in between artificial beach and carnival.
Police earlier refused the permit cautioning about the implications of this game, as competition or rivalry between gangs has lead to violence in the past.
Police said that their refusal was because such tournaments have instigated gang violence, conflict, and robbery.
On Tuesday, 150 people gathered at the President’s Residence, Muleeaage request permission to hold the ‘Baibalaa’ tournament during Eid. President Nasheed came out and said that he will try to give the permission to hold the tournament.
