Expatriate worker’s arm amputated after machinery accident

A 28-year-old expatriate Srilanka worker’s arm was crushed after it became stuck in a piece of machinery Sunday evening at Shaviyani Atoll Vaagaru.
The incident happened when Saman Uspan, went to clean the concrete mixing equipment at around the time of evening prayer.
Saman was taken to Shaviyani atoll Funadhoo Hospital and then was transferred to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
The right hand of the man was amputated at the elbow in Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital on Monday.
According to hospital officials Saman is now in ICU but his condition is getting stable.
