DRP cannot work sincerely in the Majlis even for two days- MDP

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Maldivian Democratic Party [MDP] Parliamentary Group has alleged that the main opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party [DRP] cannot work sincerely in the People’s Majlis even for two days.

With reference to People’s Majlis being cancelled in the session on Judicature Bill when the debate heated up between ruling and opposition party MPs, MDP parliamentary group leader, Hulhuhenveiru MP Moosa Manik claimed that the friendly environment in Majlis established after conclusion of the constitutional deadline has now vanished because of the DRP MPs.

Moosa asserted that the Majlis session was to be cancelled because DRP MPs forwarded their self interest to achieve their agenda.

Majlis session was stalled after the opposition DRP proposed an amendment and voted to abolish the article on re-conducting trials carried out during the former regime.
