Monday, September 6th, 2010

Anti-Corruption commission (ACC) has asked the AG office to file a lawsuit in court against the case of the loss the government had to suffer due to the Kollhuvetti, which was bought for 6.8 million Rufiyaa by the former Government to the waste management section.

In a press release ACC, yesterday said, “The case of the kollhuvetti which was brought to Maldives in the name of Ufuli 5 by the waste management section is a deal of deception with the usage of the government’s money illicitly. During the investigation of this case by the commission, it was against the rule which was used back then about managing, spending and the accounting of the governments finance and wealth. And the problem of the one who was playing the main role, Hulhumale 30101 Male’ Ismail Abdhul Hameed had tried to use his position to grant illegal provision to some entities.  The government had to face a lot of loss in the matter. So in order to cover the loss, the amount spend by the government to buy the Boat, $ 643,750 ( Six Hundred and forty three thousand seven hundred and fifty Dollars) should be taken from Ismail Abdhul Hameed through AG office as was mentioned by the PG office. Now due to this the case has been sent to the AG office on 22 August 2010 to be lodged in the Court.”
