Yaameen wants to denigrate MNDF and Police- Moosa

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary group leader, Hulhuhenveiru MP Moosa Manik has alleged that opposition People’s Alliance (PA) leader Mulaku MP Abdullah Yaameen wants to denigrate and smear the name of MNDF and Maldives Police Service.

Moosa also called Yameen to resign from Majlis’s National Security Committee.

Moosa accused that Yameen has been continuously trying to smear the name of the two institutions after his detention on charges of corruption.

“Yaameen will never succeed by chasing MNDF and Police seeking revenge,” said Moosa.

Moosa also accused Yaameen of trying to malign MNDF by trying to summon the officials of MNDF to appear before Majlis’s National Security Committee without validating the veracity of the letter warning of a foreign country’s plans to assassinate President Mohamed Nasheed and certain active leaders in the country’s political arena.

Moosa added that Yaameen is trying to denigrate the armed forces in his personal vendetta against the institution.

Elsewhere, Civil Court yesterday ruled that Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) were not authorized to arbitrary detain the opposition PA leader Mulaku MP Abdullah Yaameen.
