Special Envoy of the President expresses sympathy for Pakistan flood victims

Special Envoy of the President Ibrahim Hussain Zaki has expressed sympathy and conveyed condolences to the people and the government of Pakistan following the widespread devastation and loss of life caused by flood.

Speaking with Pakistani High Commissioner to the Maldives Akhtar Ali Sulehri, during a visit to the High Commission of Pakistan in the Maldives, Zaki said the Maldives and Pakistan has enjoyed long brotherly relations, and conveyed sympathy and condolences of the people and the government of the Maldives to those affected by the tragedy.

He noted that the Pakistani government and people had always rendered its assistance and support to the Maldives.

At the meeting, Pakistani High Commissioner Sulehri expressed his gratitude for the support all Maldivians have shown towards the millions of people who were affected by the largest natural disaster in the country’s recent history.

He said the President’s call on all Maldivians in his weekly radio address on 13 August and his telephone call to the Prime Minister of Pakistan were a testament to the importance the Maldives attached to assisting Pakistan.

During the visit, Special Envoy of the President Zaki made a donation to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
