With Salman Khan’s participation Maldives-India relations would blossom – President

Addressing a gathering organized by India Club to mark the independence day of the Maldives and India, President Nasheed has said that with Salman Khan’s participation India-Maldives relations would blossom further.

World renown Indian actor is in the Maldives as most important part of the celebrations of Indian and Maldivian independence days organized by the India Club and to participate in charity work in the Maldives.

In the event which featured Indian and Maldivian artists, President Nasheed thanked Salman Khan for initiating to participate in the charity work and for his altruism.

President Nasheed also said that Indian High Commissioner in the Maldives, High Commissioner Mulay loves to engage in social activities and what we see today is a result of that.

Speaking at the gathering High Commissioner Mulay said that he believe serving the community is a must, no matter which country he or she may be and that all foreigners in the country should also do their part in the Maldives society.

High Commissioner Mulay also noted that Salman Khan had participated “Medical Assistance Program” at Villingili Children’s Home and IGMH’s blood donation campaign as well. Salman Khan also attended an art festival by children at Iskander School. Salman Khan judged the paintings and delivered prizes to the winners as well.

In the ceremony, GMR also announced 10 scholarships for higher education to the Maldivian students. A total of 100 scholarships for the next decade, 10 each year would be provided which would be fully funded by GMR, according to Indian giant in infrastructure development which would soon takeover Male International Airport.

Salman Khan also performed in the gathering.

Ceremony was attended by President Nasheed, First Lady, Ministers and senior officials of the government. The ceremony was also attended by officials of High Commission of India in the Maldives, India Club in the Maldives and many Indian citizens living in the Maldives.
