We have secured enough votes for no confidence vote against President – Opposition

Ilham Ahmed, MP for Gemanafushi and deputy leader of DRP has said that opposition coalition has secured 52 votes required for a no confidence motion against President Nasheed.
He also said that the motion would be sent to the parliament secretariat once the parliament sessions are resumed. He also noted that all opposition MPs, independent MPs and some MDP members has confided that they will support for the motion. Ilham also note that it is already too later for such a motion because of President Nasheed’s “continued unconstitutional steps”.
Speaking at VTV, DRP MPs Ali Arif, Mohamed Nihaan Hussain Maniku and Ilham Ahmed have said that opposition will file a no confidence motion against President Nasheed. They also said that the present cabinet is “unconstitutional” and threatened to vote against the cabinet.
Dr. Hassan Saeed, leader of DQP has also said that a no confidence vote against President Nasheed is a must for his repeated actions outside the legal framework of the country.
Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, leader of DRP has also hinted that government should not believe that the cabinet would automatically go through, and said that DRP will take a decision on the issue as per the MPs wishes.
