Maldivian constitution, laws, judiciary and the government is also OK, but the problem is running the government with an “L board”, Dr. Hassan Saeed, leader of Opposition DQP has said. Dr. Hassan Saeed’s comments came at a press briefing after concluding an official visit to UK to brief the international community on the political crisis in the Maldives.

Dr. Hassan Saeed also said that government is incapable officials of the government are intimidating the people without any regard for constitution and laws, by using the Police and MNDF. Government is also detaining opposition leaders and do not regard any decision by the Parliament. Dr. Hassan Saeed also said that what we see in the Maldives today is very different from what we can see from other liberal democracies and that in no country supporters of the ruling party would demonstrate in the streets culminate peace.

Dr. Hassan Saeed was referring to rally MDP held against corruption in the parliament, which was interrupted by thugs belonging to opposition. Later that night clashes erupted across the capital Male between supporters of the ruling MDP and opposition outside DRP offices near Artificial Beach where MDP was holding a rally which was attended by President Mohamed Nasheed.

Dr. Hassan Saeed also claimed to have met with leaders of UK’s Conservative Party, Liberal Democratic Party, leaders of House of Lords and House of Commons, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Ministers and Shadow Ministers during his recent visit to UK. He also said that he had met with Commonwealth and briefed British media on the situation in the Maldives.

According to Dr. Hassan Saeed, all the senior officials whom he met expressed concern on the situation in the Maldives. He also noted that UK government has also expressed concern on the actions of the Maldives government, with whom it had liaised on promoting democracy in the Maldives.

Dr. Hassan Saeed noted that the visit was successful and was hoping to see positive developments in coming days as a result.

Deputy leaders of DQP, Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and Abdul Matheen, who accompanied Dr. Hassan Saeed also briefed the media on the visit.

    Anni should stay as a opposition leader no metter which party is that, pls be with that.
