President Nasheed is tricking to dissolve the parliament – Dr. Jameel
Article Tools
President Nasheed is speaking on amending the constitution to introduce a complete parliamentary system and calling for a new parliamentary election, to mislead the public because of his unpopularity, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, deputy leader of opposition DQP has said.
He also added that the main objective of the “midterm election” which President Nasheed has talked about this week is to trick the opposition into dissolving the parliament. However, President Nasheed has also said that there would also be a presidential election as well, possibly in July 2011.
Dr. Jameel also said that President Nasheed is not very popular and his promise of midterm election while campaigning is a testimony to it. However, President Nasheed has said that there are no reasons why he should not go for a new election because “winning elections is the easiest thing I have done in my life”. President Nasheed has never lost an election in his political career.
