Article Tools
Speaking to Television Maldives, Minister of State for Finance and Treasury, Aslam Shakir has said that the opposition wishes to assassinate President Nasheed.
Aslam also noted that the opposition parties wishes to oust the government at any cost and said that it would be impossible. He also noted that opposition parties are trying hard to prevent realizing MDP manifesto.
“There are parliamentarians who are ex-ministers and they are working hard to hide their past when they were ministers. They will not be sincere to people” Aslam noted.
Aslam also criticized MP for Kulhudhuffushi Dhekunu, Mohamed Nasheed heavily. Aslam said that despite his ambitions and dreams, he will never be the President of Maldives.
“He gets a MRF 62,000 (USD 4825) as salary and yet he is under financial control of another MP. So members of his constituency have to check what he is doing with his parliament salary” Aslam said.
Aslam’s comment was a reference to a leaked conversation between Nasheed and MP for Maamigili, Qasim Ibrahim. Nasheed have not denied the saga but rather indicated that at times he has been asking for assistance from businessmen including Qasim. However, he also said that he have never tied the decisions he makes as an MP, with the financial assistance he receives from businessmen.
