India Club to launch a special festival to celebrate India and Maldives independence day

High Commission of India in the Maldives and India Club in the Maldives has decided to launch a special festival in the Maldives to celebrate independence days of Maldives and India.
In a press briefing, High Commissioner Mulay noted that 26 July and 15 August are independence days of Maldives and India respectively, and that joint celebration of the two days could strengthen the bond between peoples of India and Maldives.
High Commissioner Mulay also noted that the celebration had already begun as an art festival at Art Gallery, from 1 to 25 July 2010. High Commissioner also noted that the festival features art work connecting talents of Indian artists with Maldivian tradition and urged to visit the festival as it is unique.
As part of the celebration a seminar entitled “New Vision for Economic Cooperation Between India and Maldives” would be held, inaugurated by Minister for Economic Development, Mahmood Raazee.
In addition 24 July 2010 would be marked as a traditional night, inaugurated by President Nasheed. Celebrated Indian actor, Salman Khan would also perform during the event, in addition to performances by Indian and Maldivian artists.
