Article Tools
Chaya Reef Ellaidhoo Resort has celebrated 45th anniversary of the Maldives independence.
In the flag hoisting ceremony, national flag and company flags were hoisted by the longest serving Maldivian employees in the resort. Flag of the resort was hoisted by General Manager V. Prem Kumar.
A volleyball and soccer match was also held between the local employees and expatriates of the resort as part of the celebrations. A traditional Maldivian meal was also served at a traditional ceremony held at the resort to mark the Independence Day.
General Manager Prem Kumar noted that although the resort is owned by John Keels, a Sri Lankan company, management is honored to mark the independence day of the Maldives. He also noted that John Keels management wishes to increase such events in their resorts, as it would help its local employees enjoy their national events and days.
Kumar also noted that the main challenge for the resort at the moment is lack of available trained local staff for the resort. To solve the problem resort has an in-house hotel school in the resort being managed with Human Resource Ministry, unfortunately which is closed at the moment. Kumar also noted that if government wishes to restart the school, resort is willing to do so and confirmed that adequate amount of teachers are also available.
Ellaidhoo has achieved Green Globe Awards 2010.
