Sheikh Ilyas Hussain has said that Adhaalathu Party will not “wait and see” when some sections of the Maldives population deliberately mock Islam.
Sheikh Ilyas, who is also the deputy leader of Adhaalathu and deputy leader of Adhaalathu’s Scholar’s Council, also that Adhaalathu does not receive the cooperation needed to protect and promote Islam in the country and certain groups within the Maldives had begun challenging Adhaalathu’s efforts to promote Islam in the country. He also warned that such trends are bringing Adhaalathu’s patience to an end, and it is forced to take some action on the issue.
“In Islam, religion and politics is interconnected. Secularism is un-Islamic” Sheikh noted.
Sheikh Ilyas also said that Adhaalathu Party has played a key role in the democratic transition of the country and presence of Adhaalathu in the coalition is one reason why people accepted the new government. He also said that people has confidence in Adhaalathu to move ahead with the current government’s religious agenda.
Sheikh Ilyas said that the leaders of the government have forgotten about Adhaalathu’s sacrifices and the confidence and legitimacy it brings to the government.
“We prefer to solve these issues through dialogue. If that fails, we would not hesitate to fight against this government like we did against the last one” Sheikh warned during a series of meetings held in the islands.

Very True, Adhaalath indeed played a vital role in bringing an end to maumoons era, adhaalath should fore think and implement futuristic regulations to topple the challenging world of free minds, Islam is much stronger and wider than a free lunatic teen minds.
Where is the Fiqh academy? What has adaalath done to make it transparent? Do you share of the duty and then point fingers at others…and why does Adhaalath and other radicals have to assume we have to believe everything that Ilyas and Faareedh has to say when there are other scholars who have more logical explanations for our long held beliefs in islam. Will someone please explain.
my dear sheik. a democracy will never be non-secular. the very foundation of democracy was laid with the intention of removing the (christian) church’s influence from governing the state. hence, as a basic practice religion is not part of politics in democracy. there were many who were agitated with this democracy, during its early inception. now we can taste the bitterness of democracy. just ask yourself and your master (nasheed) which prevails over what. he will obviously choose democracy dropping religion. be a gentleman and tell the people that you did not stand to bring democracy, but you stood to bring down Qayyoom. In your (Adaalath’s) presence MDP is challenging the religion with undoubted courage. They say that they don’t need you all anymore.
The Adhaalathu party is not fooling anyone but itself with its aim of snatching power in the Name of Islam.
There is no other political party that has abused the religion for petty political gains as this one. They should be ashamed of themselves!
As for their claims that secularism is ‘not Islamic’, if Iliyas had done his homework, he’d have found that some of the finest secular thinkers have originated during the heights of Islamic power in 8th -13th century Baghdad, when Islamic philosophy and free thought had the blessings of Caliphate.
He’d also find that some of the biggest Islamic leaders and scholars among the largest Muslim populations of the world (India, Indonesia, Pakistan) espouse secularism and find no discordance between the two ideas.
The fake friction between Adhaalath and MDP sounds like the Iran-US drama. Both of them try to appear as die hard enemies ready to go to war.But history proves that they are real friends.US needs Iran’s help to stabilize Afghan.
Sheikh Ilyas you convinced people to vote for Nasheed when it was common knowledge in Male’ that he was a secularist and made mockeryof Islam .You and other members of adhaalath party made thakfeer on Gayoom for no valid reason.but when Nasheed drinks in public and allies himself with the missionaries to build a church in Male you remain in the silent majority. Your double standards are very obvious . this condemnation on MDP is just pulling wool on the public eye , Gayoom had better foresight He kept people like Dr Majid in their place , knowing that their craving was for power and position and not for dheen .
