What we see today is the hard work religious scholars – President

Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair has said that President Nasheed is of the view that increased religious awareness in the country is a result of the hard work being done by the religious scholars in the country and that as President he does not wish to take credit for that.
Responding to concerns by Salaf that presidential address does not contain any information on Islamic affairs, Zuhair said that they had received information from Islamic Ministry as well, but President chose not to include those information in the address as President believes that both the credit and the its technical aspects of the religious issues must be solely left to the scholars.
“Newfound freedom in preparing Islamic sermons, new sermons being prepared on a weekly basis, creation of fiqh academy, Islamic fair, fund to construct mosques in the country, creation of prayer rooms in schools, providing religious counseling, increased programme to create religious awareness in the country, publication of important religious books are all achievements on religious grounds being led by Islamic Ministry” Zuhair noted and said that President believes that its credit should solely go for the religious scholars in the country.
Speaking on the Islamic Fair, President has earlier said that Islamic Ministry has been doing an excellent job in terms of executing their mandate.
