MNDF commences this year’s annual shooting competition

MNDF Chief of Defence Force Major General Moosa Ali Jaleel inaugurated this year’s shooting competition in a special ceremony held at the shooting range of Girifushi Training Center.

On the opening message, Chief of Defence Force Major General Moosa Ali Jaleel outlined the developments and progress of the competition over past years.

CDF also added that MNDF soldiers should not get involved in politics in the country. Speaking at the ceremony, CDF said that MNDF has already expressed its opinion on the bill of amendments to MNDF Act. In this regard he said that, the organization does not welcome any political influence.

The 23 teams will compete in 3 divisions. The three divisions include combat units, Support Service units, and Servicewomen.

This competition is held in the memory of Late Major Ingireysi Umar Manik. The competition was named after Late Major Ingireysi Umar Manik since 1995, but it has been continued since 1958. This competition is aimed to improve marksmanship principal of soldiers and to create a competitive environment among the soldiers.
