Members of ruling party shall be examples – MP Aslam

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

MP for S. Hithadhoo North, Mohamed Aslam has said that as members of ruling party, MDP members should be an example for other parties around.

Speaking at MDP Meeting held on 28 February Aslam said that occasionally he receives calls from MDP activists and members asking for personal favors such as releasing a prisoner, requesting for government flat and other personal favors.

But Aslam said on areas where there should be equality among the members of the public, no preference could be given to MDP members or activists. He also urged to request for things which will benefit the whole country, instead of requesting for personal favors and assured that he will do whatever he can to realize those requests which would benefit the nation rather than an individual.

Aslam also said that such requests are being made because of a culture established by the former government. But he said MDP assumed the leadership of the country to change such traditions and cultures and appealed for cooperation from MDP members in such endeavors.

  1. This guy is a joke, no wonder you get non stop requests such as an awful DJ would, its because ur leader, our Mr Raees Meeha, Keneryge Nasheed, experienced some diarhiea of the mouth and promised to release many people from prison or build many flats for them, not the culture of the previous regime to blame as they delivered. Now what, you want them not to ask for the betterment of their lives, you are supposed to be an MP, you have dug this hole and climbed in it, so go on, sit in it, and produce the 1000s of flats and release the 1000s of prisoners that you MDP people promised you would to come to power, stop crying about it, too late for that, some people need to be tarrd and featherd b the looks of things.
