Ruling Maldivian Democratic Party has called on the Police to investigate the death threats against the journalists and politicians and their families, as it has become commonplace now.

According to a press release issued by MDP, it said that Islam had called on us to protect five things in order to maintain peace and harmony in the society: religion, soul, thinking, race and assets. MDP also said none of the above fundamentals of life should be neglected for any individual.

MDP also called on the Police to seriously investigate these matters. MDP also said that it categorically rejects the efforts by some people to instill fear in the minds of the public.

Three days ago country’s notorious gang fighter was released to house arrest. A group of senior officials of DhiTV, which telecasted the news, was attacked on 15 March. Three hours later another attack followed against a staff of Haveeru.

  1. what a joke! MDP, ur worse than DRP under Maumoon! Call upon your President and Ministers to do something about this. Why make police the scape goats? They work under the Ministry of Home Affairs, under your Home Minister who reports to your President! If he paid half as much attention to deal with the country’s issues as he does on his publicity stunts abroad, maybe our country will have some peace and harmony.
