Male International Airport to be privatized by September
Article Tools
Minister of Communication and Civil Aviation, Mahmood Raazee has said that Male International Airport will be privatized by September 2010. Minister said that those six parties which had expressed interest would be invited to submit their proposals. Minister expects that proposals would be received by the end of May.
He also said that the invitation document is already drafted, with assistance from International Finance Cooperation (IFC). IFC, a subsidiary of the World Bank Group, is providing technical support to the government in the privatization of the airport.
Pre qualification of the six parties which had expressed interest was endorsed during January 2010.
Parties includes France’s Acroports de’ Paris Management, Vienna Airports, Zurich Airports Turkish Airport, Reliance and India’s GMR.
Many are against privatizing the Male International Airport as it is a major investment by the government and because the Airport had been quite profitable.

The out come would depend on the contract between both parties, is it really privatization…???
Or is it a Public Private partnership, or an Alliance …???
Does the government really know what they are doing and what the outcome would be? Did the government undergo a proper research to study the feasibility, the public must know and we demand it. The nation doesn’t belong to any political party, it belongs to the people.
