A new wave of counterfeit US dollars identified – MMA

Maldives Monetary Authority, country’s central bank, has warned the public that counterfeit US dollars are in circulation in the country.

MMA also said that very recently Police had discovered 100 dollar bills which were printed in a very quality paper. MMA also said that lower quality prints of 20 dollar bills and 50 dollar bills are also in circulation.

MMA had also reminded the public to double check if the dollar bills received are original.

Police also said that the busted counterfeit dollar notes worth of USD 400,000 were printed under 11 serial numbers and that it is difficult to determine whether it is fake or not.
