MDP became the largest political party by its members hard work – Maria

In an interview to media, Maria Ahmed Didi, MDP’s Chairperson and MP for Machchangoalhi Uthuru, has said that MDP has become the largest political party in the country by its members hard work. Maria’s interview was a response to the announcement of the latest statistics by the Elections Commission which said MDP had beaten its arch rival DRP to become the largest political party in the country. In the meantime, MDP had also defeated the DRP in the parliament as the single largest political party within the Parliament during last week.

Maria also said that the achievement also represents that the policies of the new government are well received by the public and displays their confidence in the MDP government.

MDP has been on a vigorous membership drive since October 2009, which has recruited 10,000 new members for the party. The drive is being led by senior activists of the party under the leadership of Hassan Shah, MDP Secretary-General and Ahmed Shahid, party’s register.

As MDP, which is the first political party in the country and undoubtedly the most democratic political party in the country, will now be the largest party in the country as well, and Maria congratulated and thanked SG and Registrar of the party, registration staff, members and activists for the achievement.
