Civil servants and Maldivians will smile soon – Press secretary
Article Tools
Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair has said that the MDP government came to office to protect the rights of the ordinary people and that it will make civil servants and Maldivians happy soon.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily he said that civil servants and Maldivians would be better off in the long run, if the civil service is reformed.
“In a country which had been out of order for a long time, it would create problems when someone tries to put in order and there would be people who wouldn’t like it. And there would also be a group who sees the process as something which would brighten their future” he said.
He also said that although the civil servants might criticize government for lowering their salaries, in the long run they would appreciate the government for reforming the economy.
Zuhair also said that government is introducing economic reforms very cautiously upon instructions from local and international experts.
He also said that once the economic reform is implemented civil servants and all other in country would also get the benefits.

Juha, you are one of those Brits, even when the ship is sinking you guys will be on vodka, or pehaps rum and dancing on the deck.
I am looking forward to the fruitful outcomes and wealthier lives of us, Maldivians brought on by intelligently made economic reforms. I have a lot of hope and wish to see a richer Maldives under President Nasheed’s governance.
I would also say that we should not rely too much on ‘international experts’ for they are do not always know the specific needs and wants of a country like Maldives. This is not to say their advice is useless. But we should also weigh their advice with respect to our situation.
