New efforts to maintain order in Male’ streets
Article Tools
Male’ Municipality has said that it would begin a new operation as it had become a norm to stock certain things in the streets, which is creating huge problems for the pedestrians and motorists.
Adam Maniku, President of the Male’ Municipality said that the streets would only be made a better place, when everyone respects the rights of the others who use the streets.
He also said that because of the limited space in Male, every new house being constructed is a multi-storey one. He also said that even though streets might have to be used for the construction of the first two or three floors, such use of streets is not necessary for the construction of the upper floors.
However, he said that what actually happens is that people rent the floors as soon as they are complete and continue to carry the work on the streets, no matter how many floors are complete.
He noted that if the ground floor can be used for such activities, it will ease the burden on the streets of male’.
“I don’t think that the parking is the first thing. First thing is the rights of the pedestrians and motorists. So if the consideration can be given to others when you park, it would be very easy for others” Adam Maniku said.
He also said that in a place like Male’, where things had gone out of control, years would take before everything’s sorted out and even then authorities would be hit hard by the anger and frustrations for the inconveniences which public would be subjected to in the short-run. But he also noted that in the long-run people would benefit from such programs. Adam Maniku also noted that a renewed effort would be put to make roads in Male’ a better place.
