Police briefs the Media on three drug cases

Print Maldives Police Service had briefed the media on three new drug cases in a press briefing held yesterday. The media was briefed by Sub Inspector of the Drug Enforcement Department’s Investigation Unit, Ahmed Azhaan.
Three cases include a case of selling alcohol in the Male’, a case of 2 Kg drugs identified in a vegetable shipment from Trivandrum and a case of drug possession and drug dealing.
A 39 year old Indian named Shiboo was apprehended on 12 December at 1830 hrs in a special operation by the Police. Inspection of his home revealed 65 bottles of alcohol including vodka. No further information on the identity of the man was revealed as there was no identification of the man. Police is further investigating the case and obtaining the information’s of the man.
Police also briefed the media on 2kg drugs discovered from a vegetable shipment from Trivandrum. Azhaan also said that 22 year old Ali Rifaah Rashaad was the only suspect in custody regarding the case.
Police seized too boxes which contained 2 packets with a total weight of 1.04 kg of cannabis and a second box contained a further 2 packets which is believed to be 0.7 kg heroine. He also said that as Police have more suspects regarding the case, they are investigating the case further.
Police also briefed the media on 18 year old Ahmed Aseel of M. Suthuli, who was apprehended for possession of large amount of drugs and for drug dealing as well. Police seized two packets which are believed to be drugs from him which weighted 146.7821 grams.
