Article Tools
Speaking on a programme on budget 2010 Attorney-General has said that government would not have to legally spend all the money budgeted by the parliament, but a budget is a figure which caps the maximum expenditure. He also said that a budget is always an estimated one.
He said that although the budget is passed by the Parliament, it is not a legal document and even though figures are there for certain codes government would not be penalized for not spending them.
Speaking at the same programme, Ibrahim Shareef from opposition DRP said although government would not have to spend all the money budgeted, once the budget is passed government would have to abide by it.
Parliament has passed a 12.7 billion ruffiya budget last night which MRF 800 million more than the original budget proposed. Ali Hashim, Finance Minister had expressed his dissatisfaction with the new addition, saying that he would not be responsible for the additional expenditure which he said he don’t know how he would raise.
