Election Commission fined the parties to ease budget constraints – Adhaalath
Article Tools
Adhaalath Party, has said that it is of the view that Elections Commission fined the political parties to ease budget constraints and that Adhaalath does not believe the decision as a just one.
The statement was made by Acting Vice President of the party, Asim Mohamed, in a press briefing held to brief the media on the work of the party at the “fansavees” yesterday.
Speaking further, Asim said that the audit report of the party was send to Elections before March and that the report was prepared as per the regulation, by an auditor licensed and approved by the Government.
He also said that if there is any problem with the audit report, Elections should have informed the Party to correct them. An attempt to fine the parties at the end of the year, without any such notification, when the budget is discussed in the Parliament is not acceptable to Adhaalath. He also said that that there is another motive behind the move.
Sheikh Hussain Rasheed Ahmed said that even though 13 political parties are registered in the Maldives only 3 Parties, MDP, DRP and Adhaalath are active.
He also said that Adhaalath was registered to attain particular goals and the Party would always work to achieve them. The goals include increasing religious awareness in the Maldives, working towards the protection of Islam and Islamic culture and all the related work.
He also said that the approach by the Party is different than in previous government since the Party was outside the government back then, while the Party is a member of the current government.
Those things previously said publicly, are being said inside the government according to him. He also said that if the Government fails to listen to the party, the Party will take up the issue in public forums.
He also said that Party had already brought up some issues publicly and scholars of the Party would continue to move forward with the same spirit.
