All issues raised by the Salaf in the Regulation – Islamic Ministry
Article Tools
Ministry of Islamic Affairs had said that the 11 issues raised by the religious NGO Salaf are already included in the draft regulation on religious unity.
Responding to a letter sent to Islamic Ministry earlier, a response letter from the Ministry pledged to include future concerns from the Salaf in the draft acts and regulations in the future as well.
In the letter Ministry also said that acts and regulations are drafted by consultations between many, and not as per the wishes of a single person and will not promote the ideologies of a certain individual or group. The main objective of the regulation is to protect its citizens from violence, extremism, divisive beliefs and cultures against Islam, committed in the name of Islam, it said.
The regulation is drafted by the legal experts from President’s Office, Police and the Ministry and it is hoped that the new regulation would come into effect within 6 months.
Responding to the letter from the Ministry, Salaf said it is satisfied that its comments are taken on board.
The letter however, had also said that Salaf had not cooperated in the past with the Ministry. “During the past year Salaf had not contacted the Ministry officially, but delivered different statements at the media which had diminished the respect and image of the ministry. The ministry is disheartened by such actions in the past” the letter said.
The letter also said that Ministry had offered President of the Salaf to join the fiqh academy, but he has rejected the invitation to join this prestigious body. The Ministry had also requested help from Salaf President for his assistance in drafting religious sermons and on other matters as well, but as of yesterday Ministry had not received any such assistance.
The letter however thanked Salaf for its approach regarding the regulation and declared the act as “bold and far-sighted”.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily Salaf said that they have been assisting the Ministry and Vice President of Salaf is very active in providing the assistance Ministry needs. Regarding the invitation to join the Fiqh academy, Salaf President said that he had explained the reason to the Islamic affairs Minister, and Minister understands it. He has not helped in drafting the religious sermons, because he does not have enough time concentrate on such educative lectures.
“Regarding the sermons I said that I am ready to assist but I haven’t got enough time on that. I already write to religious monthly Dharuma, but I can’t even write that monthly article. In any case scholars at the Salaf are already assisting the Ministry. It is not the person who matters, what matters is that Salaf is assisting the Ministry. I don’t want to respond to Ministry’s letter or do something which might create tension between the Ministry and Salaf” he said.
