President Nasheed has yesterday appointed Ahmed Sareer as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh at a ceremony held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
Following the presentation of the Letter of Appointment to Sareer, the President called on him to work to strengthen the bilateral relations that exist between the Maldives and Bangladesh, especially in enhancing trade relations between the two countries.
President appointed Sareer as the High Commissioner after consulting with the People’s Majlis as required by the constitution. It was in July this year that Majlis approved Presidential nominee Ahmed Sareer for this post. Sareer was endorsed by 49 out of 52 members in attendance voting in favor.
