Article Tools
Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has denied the allegations that some DRP member in the People’s Majlis parliamentary group will be resigning from the party to join the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)
Speaking to Miadhu in this regard, the spokesperson of DRP Mohamed Shareef said that this was a rumor spread by MDP. Shareef said that each and every member of DRP conformed to the principles of democracy and worked towards establishing democracy in the country. He added that none of the DRP members would accept the bribe handed by MDP.
Mohamed Shareef of DRP said that this rumor was spread to dishearten the DRP general members but that these members will not be affected by it as they were focused on their goals.
Recently, there was a lot of talk about a possible defection of youth members of DRP such as Feydhoo constituency member of Majlis Alhaan Fahmy and Maafanu Uthuru constituency member Abduraheem to MDP.
Shareef has very outspokenly denied these allegations and criticized people who were spreading this story.
