Minister Faisal meets Seychelles President

Minister of Defense and National Security Ameen Faisal has met with the President of Seychelles James Alix Michel yesterday.
In the official meeting held in Seychelles State House, Minister Ameen Faisal handed over a letter to President James from the President Mohamed Nasheed.
Speaking at the meeting, President of Seychelles congratulated Maldives on the new government and new changed democracy of the country. President James said that this change will benefit Maldives as well as the people of Maldives.
Defense Minister Ameen Faisal spoke about the importance of maintaining a security network among the archipelagoes in this region and that the objective of this network should be to exchange security related information. Minister Ameen Faisal expressed his concern about the increase of piracy and illegal drug trafficking in the region and requested to increase security cooperation between Seychelles and Maldives to combat against these security issues.
Besides the President of Seychelles, Minister of Defense of Ameen Faisal will also meet Seychelles’s the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Joseph Nourice, Chief of Defense Force Brigadier Leopold Payet and also senior officials of coast guard and ports authority.
This meeting comes at a times when piracy attacks has been increasing in the India Ocean especially neat the coast of Seychelles.
