Linguistic Center to document Huvadhoo dialect

National Center for Linguistic and Historical Research (NCLHR) has begun a project to document the dialect spoken by people in the atolls of Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal (or locally known as Huvadhoo atoll.)

This project which is financed by UNESCO will try to record and document various folklores, songs, local poems etc of the atoll. In addition to this, interviews will be conducted with some residents of this island.

This work has been assigned to Waleeda Eesa and Ahmed Shafeeq of NCLHR and they left to do this work on 5th of this month.
So far, this team has visited Madaveli, Hoadehdhoo, Nadehlla, Rathafandhoo and Fiyoari in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll.

The Center expects this work to be concluded by 7 December of this year.
