Contract for transport network to be signed by December

Ministry of Housing, Transport and Environment has said that all the agreements for establishing transport network through out the country will be signed by December of this year.
According to the ministry, when the contracts for doing this work gets signed by December, than the transport service in all the seven provinces of country will start by the beginning of next year.
The due date to submit bid for establishing transport network in the remaining provinces of Uthuru (North) Province and Medhu (Mid) Province ends on 6 of December this year and the contracts will be signed between government and the successful applicant will be on December 30 of this year.
Uthuru Province consists of Noonu Atoll, Raa Atoll, Baa Atoll and Lhaviyani Atoll and Medhu Province consists of Meemu Atoll, Faafu Atoll and Dhaalu Atoll.
The contract for establishing transport network in Medhu Uthru (Mid North) province was signed during October of this year and the service has been scheduled to begin around November 24 of this year. The service will be provided by MTCC. On the same day, transport services will be provided by MVK to Dhekunu or South Province. Ferry services have already begun for Medhu Dhekunu or Mid South province.
On Thursday contracts were signed to establish transport networks in the provinces of Mathi Uthuru (Upper North) and Mathi Dhekunu (Upper South) between the government and Trinus-CAE Holdings Pvt Ltd.
The new government is committed to establish a unified transport system in which everyone can conveniently travel (at affordable prices) to the service centres established in the regions. This was one of the pledges of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and MDP ruled government.
