Child drowns to death, another one fatally injured

A 3 year old boy has drowned to death yesterday morning.
This incident occurred yesterday morning around 08.15 in Raa Atoll Kinolhas island. The boy was found dead in the lagoon of the island by his mother
The boys father left for Male’ earlier that morning and preliminary findings by Maldives Police Service (MPS) reveal that the boy may have drowned when he went out to search for his father.
In a separate incident that occurred in Lhaviyani Atoll Naifaru yesterday morning, an 8 year old boy was severely injured when a wall fell on his head. According to MPS, the incident has left a five inch long wound or a split running from the center of the boy’s head to his neck.
MPS said that this happened as the boy jumped from the wall 6 feet in height and as he jumped a portion of the wall on his head. The 8 year old climbed the wall to catch a bird.
The boy has been treated in Lhaviyani Atoll hospital and arrangements are under way to bring him to Male’ for further treatment.
